March always feels like a quiet turning point for me. Even though we had very few truly cold days here in Colorado this winter, I still notice the shift when the light begins to return.
I live with seasonal affective disorder, and in past winters I’ve felt the heaviness that comes with long, dark days. This year, it was much milder, which I’m grateful for, but I still find myself welcoming the longer daylight and that subtle lift in energy that comes with it.
For me, coming back into the light usually starts with simple things.
A short walk outside, even if it’s just around the block. Feeling the sun on my face for a few minutes can change my whole mood.
Gentle stretching helps wake my body back up. After winter, our muscles often feel tighter and a little more sluggish.
Rolling the shoulders, opening the chest, and stretching the hips can make a big difference.
And sometimes it’s just stepping outside for a few deep breaths and noticing that the season is changing.
Nature doesn’t rush into spring, and neither do we. We slowly stretch, move a little more, spend a little more time outside, and before we know it, the light feels fully back.
March is a reminder that even small shifts toward the light matter.
Sending you love and light,
Audrea
