A Little Mid-Summer Check-In

Can you believe it’s already August? Summer always seems to fly by. Before we know it, kids are back in school, the days start getting shorter, and we’re wondering where the season went. This time of year always reminds me how easy it is to spend the summer taking care of everyone else while putting our own needs on hold.

Lately, I’ve noticed many of my clients coming in with the same complaints—tight shoulders, sore hips, aching backs, and tired feet. It makes perfect sense. We’ve been traveling, working in our yards, tackling home projects, hiking, camping, or simply trying to enjoy every bit of sunshine we can. Our bodies keep up with us, but eventually they ask for a little attention in return.

I know I’m guilty of it too. As a massage therapist, I spend my days taking care of others, and sometimes I have to remind myself that I deserve the same care I encourage my clients to give themselves. Our bodies are incredible, but they work hard for us every single day. Taking time to rest, stretch, stay hydrated, and receive bodywork isn’t being selfish—it’s part of staying healthy.

One of my favorite things about massage therapy is that every session is different because every person is different. Some people need focused work to relieve stubborn muscle tension, while others simply need an hour to slow down, breathe, and let their nervous system relax. No matter why you come in, my goal is always the same: to help you leave feeling better than when you arrived.

As we head toward fall, I encourage you to take a moment and check in with yourself. How is your body feeling? Have you been ignoring those little aches and pains because life has been busy? If so, consider this your gentle reminder to make yourself a priority. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and taking care of yourself allows you to continue taking care of the people and things you love.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your wellness journey. Whether I see you next week or next month, I look forward to helping you feel your very best.

With gratitude,
Audrea Morado, LMT, ACT
